Im still surprised people think this will actually happen in a meaningful number. A guy who has enough vacation and sick time to work less than half the year isn’t going to be in that much of a hurry to give that up after getting a $100k a year raise. Time will tell though.

There's sampling bias here, your ex-atlas FOs were people who didn't like the place and wanted to leave. I would certainly not be thrilled if Atlas were to merge with Fedex.

Consider the source. They're doing nothing but stirring the pot to rile up the pilot group. They have contributed NOTHING since being in office except for Mussolini-type speeches. (See Comer's floor show at the Joint Council meeting in October)

I don' think retirements has anything to do with it.

From Cutler? Turner? Comer? One of their minions?

Remember those proclamations, "I'll resign if we don't have a contract by November"... which turned into "I'll resign if we don't see meaningful progress by November". Were they expecting a deal if they fired JG?
Will we see another lawsuit for breach of the union's Duty of Fair Representation (DFR) under the Railway Labor Act? I'm hearing rumors.

Is there a day in which you don't post about your bogeymen? Block 4's comments at the Joint Council meeting told the truth, where we witnessed the MEC, company and one NC rep backstab the NC committee at the time.

Join if you'd like but that lawsuit will be thrown out. Alpa has elections and just because you lose them, you can't sue and think you'll win.
The individuals pushing this need to understand that their names will be at the top of this and their reputations ruined.

I know the rumor pops up frequently but it kind of seems like a required fit at this point. We aren't hiring and have no plans too which will quickly lead to us being way behind in manning. Additionally, a new contract with retirement improvements will likely lead to a huge chunk of senior guys leaving, many on the 777. On the airframe side of the equation we have a questionable MD-11 return schedule, aging Airbus and 757, and no significant future airframe orders. Even if we announced a huge order tomorrow the airplanes would trickle in for years. Taking in Atlas brings 13 777s and 25 767s with crew and 747s we can throw at the orange freight pallet market that we keep saying we want to expand into. Hopefully the new agreed scope section has some protections for us if this comes to pass.

If the MDs don't comeback it'll take a year or more to get the manning right. We have something like 500-600 pilots that'll need to be retrained. The other fleets will be undermanned trying to pick up all their flying. There's a bunch of "Ifs" out there right now with the MD.
