Calls?

Has anyone recently received a call to come in and test?

Hawk 285 04-21-2013 11:23 PM

Woodro, HR sez no more hiring this year. There are a few folks who have tested and will most likely finish the interview process this summer, but they will be in the pool for a while.

Trust me, if calls start going out for testing, it wont be a secret.

Anyone have suggestions on where to live in memphis? I've been offered an internship position in the air ops center and will be there for a year.

For the most bang for your buck, try Frayser or Orange Mound.

Seriously though, Germantown or Collierville would be your best bet. If you're single you might try Midtown or East Memphis.

deadpixel, are you done with school or will you be going back after your internship? I only ask because I did a Flight Ops. Internship back in the day as well. Under the current system, having done the internship actually costs me points on my application.
The new system scores each application, and although having done the internship is worth nothing, taking an extra year to finish your degree will cost you points.
I know several other past interns who were hired prior to the recent HR "improvements" to the hiring process, and having been an intern was very helpful in getting the interview. Hopefully the system will be fixed?
Good luck!

Southaven Ms is an easy commute, relatively safe, and should be reasonable rent wise. If you have a lead foot the man may take all your savings though. Troll the U of Memphis website for where to live.

If you're in your 20's and single, rent on mud island or South main.

South main has a lot of places for rent and easy access to the trolly and river. Mud island is calmer with still quick access to down town, and a really nice river park, Although it'll probably flood this year from the forecast.

I have one year left so I will be taking a year off. It made the decision hard but ultimately it will be worth it (I hope). I'll have my CFI while I'm there so I'm hoping to stay active in that regards and maybe get my MEI. When I get back if I decide to take online classes might be able to be done in 6 months instead of a year but I'm not sure.

To everyone else thanks for the suggestions Germantown, Collierville keep coming up. I start in June and go through next May!

So... if you're a co-op student you're screwed....
