Default Telephone not reimbursable. Silly.

But what if it causes a plane to delay? If I needed to call GOC or MOCC from anywhere in the galactic empire, on my cell phone in the cockpit, instead of tap, tap, tapping on a geriatric glass screen that is Enterprise-era technology, they won't reimburse my international (or galactic) charge?

Fix it so the freight moves faster. For the sake of our customers and stock holders, fix this nonsense. Penny wise. Pound foolish.

Who was looking out for Fred's interests on the other side of the table? Phone calls to work numbers should be reimbursable except for blithering idiots who leave the phone off the hook.

Santa might come to town with a shiny new TA.

Every time I've had to contact GOC, I have used the ramp agent's phone. If you are on the plane anywhere domestic, call the ramp via VHF or walk inside if its that big an issue. Internationally, the ramp agents have a phone with a link to the company. If you fly international, you can use satcom if you absolutely have to talk to the company or use ACARS or walk into the ramp office. Every international ramp has phone contact with GOC. I don't have an international cell phone and don't need one. Are you really worried about a delay if you have an issued that has to be resolved with the company? The company has the ability to talk to you at every location that is a FedEx ramp.

I might be missing something in this thread. If the company is not going to reimburse you for something work related, why are you doing it? At last look, FedEx is a multi-BILLION dollar company. That's billion with a "b". We, the workers, and yes we are just another worker to management, are fiscally less endowed. Why would I use my meager personal assets for company benefit without the possibility of repayment?
The means to do my job are provided by the company. If they are not, do not do it. Quite simple actually.
