Couldn't agree more. Having this MINDSET every day is the correct attitude, and your post was well written.
My first comment was purely in jest- you listed all those things and ended with "We should all DO these things each day as professional pilots". I was taking it to the literal sense....
Oh well- it loses any humor (it might have had) when you gotta explain it.

I would like to know, from someone who has done it, what happens when you call in fatigued.
1) Can you use your sick bank to pay for your trip?
2) Does your trip just disappear and you don't get paid?
3) How much grief does the company give you for calling in fatigued?
4) Are you put on double secret probation?
5) Does the FAA get involved in any way?
No speculation. I'd like to hear from someone who has actually been through it.

2. No. The portion you fly may remain on your calendar. If you work none of it, it will disappear from your calendar. You should get paid via sick bank
3. First, that shouldn't affect your decision. It's improper & unsafe to fly fatigued. The company will state they don't give you any --- but that may not be the full story. You'll have to tell the scheduler first, who will pass you off to the Duty Officer. Just calmly state you are too tired to fly and it's unsafe. Safety trumps all else. You may be asked to fill out an "irregularity report" by the company and a "fatigue report" by the union. So what, state the facts --- and reiterate it was a safety issue
4. I don't know --- I doubt it. Double Secret Probation is secret ya know. . But it doesn't matter --- your health & your safety matters. We all need to embrace this concept fully
5. I don't believe the FAA is notified. Now if you feel the need/desire to fill out an ASAP report that report will be reviewed by the company, union & FAA. I think that would be a superb way to let the FAA know of risks to flight safety, which should be identified & mitigated

The TA, errrr, new CBA changes that with a Fatigue Event Review Committee (FERC). Simplified, if you call in fatigued, a FERC Pilot is now your point of contact--no longer management. And, the FERC reviews your fatigue call...they can either restore your sick hours used or continue your use of sick hours--depending on the circumstances.

The Feds are notified of Fatigue calls by the company. I don't know to what extent, but it is not to punish you, if anything it is to punish the company. I have done it three times in 14 years (twice Ice storm related in Memphis). Truly no harm no foul as far as I know. The second time I told the scheduler I was tired, I am not flying, if the DO wants me he can call me. He called me 2 minutes later and said good night.

It's time to knock off this crap! The NO voters never claimed there wasn't anything good in the TA. The problem was there was too much give compared to the gains. If you can't understand that - maybe you shouldn't have voted!

I agree that it is time to cut this crap out. I hope you will tell the guys on here that are characterizing YES voters in unflattering ways the same thing. Anything else, and your words ring hollow.
