FDX age change 62
Trust us, its still 60 but we had to change it on paper.
|
I suspect if they weren't legally required they wouldn't do it. It sounds like a pretty expensive headache to cover the 3 people out the door before 62 who defer their 1st check.
|
First of many to come. I predicted long ago that even though a contract said normal retirement was at, for example, Age 60 or 30 years of service, the airlines would change that to "regulatory Age" or some other verbiage.
Why? So their pilots wouldn't be able to early out without losing some or all of their earned retirement benefits. |
We have begun our journey down that slippery slope. Trust me, we will make you whole until I decide otherwise.
|
As long as they don't mess with the size of the chocolate cake again.

Damn Tony, you've gone full blown douche.....I used to respect your comments, even when I disagreed. And you never were personal.
Disappointing. |
Would I regain your respect if I believed everything The Company said?
It's awful convenient that we agreed to let them change the age, IF ... lo and behold, here's the IF. The next step is the IRS calling shenanigans on the semantics game, and we won't get a full retirement benefit at Age 60. Call me cynical if you wish. I call the alternative naive, and I'd like to know what good stuff has turned LAG from one to the other in such a short time. Not intended as personal, just an observation of shifting allegiances. . |

When the company say in an E Mail they were legally required to change something, I believe them, and the important thing is they are honoring the intent and have committed to do so in writing. Were I a young guy I would certainly make a copy of that FCIF. |
