FedEx new contract "industry leading?"

The ink is barely dry on our new contract, which was touted as industry leading, and United Airlines has already surpassed our pay rates by a considerable margin: $28/hour more for 10 yr WB CA and $16/hour more for 10 yr WB FO as a sample snapshot. I realize pay is just one factor. Others such as work rules, vacation, commuting, pension, etc. are all sections which FedEx's contract very well may exceed UAL's. But our union claimed this was an "industry leading contract." Obviously, it's not. Our pay rates have already been eclipsed by United and soon Delta as well. Wet-lease aircraft are still on our property five months after peak. Vacation buyback and Advance Volunteer have been offered every month since peak began. We're severely undermanned and the profits are surging to record levels. We squandered the most incredible leverage this pilot force has ever seen or will ever see again. I realize what's done is done and we now have 8-10 years to think about what accepting the paltry first offered cost us monetarily. Sadly, I'm not sure 10 years from now when we vote on the next contract we will act any differently.

Time to move on bro. Lots of companies have an industry leading contract, until someone else beats it. Its going to be a while until Delta gets a contract and UPS has nothing yet. I'm sure UPS looks at our pay rates and and is hating the fact that we are ahead of them. Hopefully they'll get something soon and I hope it surpasses ours. You are right, United is above us, if you are a 76,78,74 or 777 Capt. The guys I know holding those slots have been at United a long time. Overall, our group is making more money.

If you look more closely, we fly the 767-300. At year 12 a captain at FedEx gets $24/hour more on the same airframe. The only like airframe that United pays more in is the 777.

I would hope every airline will continue to raise the bar and set the new standard...I would be very disappointed if they came in at or below ours.

The other factor that seems to always be over looked is the ratio of heavy to narrow body aircraft. Over two thirds of the FedEx crew force is paid at widebody rates. What's the break down at UAL?

Ours is even better than that. Currently 626/4428 are on the 75. Thats 14%. Of which some of them are getting wide body pay. So better than 86% are getting WB pay.

Yes, but a prominent poster on here stated that if even one pilot at another airline has a higher hourly rate you can't claim that we have industry leading pay rates.

If we trade our payrates for Uniteds, do we have to trade our 6CHs per Vacation day for their 3:15?
Do we have to trade for their 60CHs of Sick leave? And their 390$ monthly insurance premiums for a family (2015 rates)
Do we have to trade for their 3 CH GS, or their 3:45 Sim pay?

Haven't run into any 10 year WB Capt's at United yet....
