I’m sure if FedEx starts having issues recruiting pilots, they’ll pay for training hotel and put you in first year pay from day one, just as is industry standard now. It would have been nice to have had. But fortunately for me and my family, I didn’t have any extenuating circumstances that prevented me from being able to financially plan for three months of training pay and no hotel.

After reading through this entire thread, and with an interview scheduled... I have a question. I understand that those that bid the 777 FO will see less flexibility in their schedule, but what might that schedule look like? All days on in one clump and days off the same? Similar to an ACMI type schedule?

In March all of the reserve lines are either one block of 19 days (it happens to be a 5 week month) or two blocks totaling 19 seperated by at least (usually more) 5 days.

There is a mix. Some are large 12 days trips all in a row, many are less. I find that I either get a "single departure" line, where I only commute once, or two trips (say, 8 days and 5 days). There is also the possibility of getting a medium length trip and then some reserve days later in the month if you have a "VTO" line (just slightly senior to reserve holders).

Are the MD-11 lines similar in structure to the 777? Also, how similar are the 767 lines to the 757?

Can someone please explain the dynamic of the job, meaning do all trips begin/end at base? I am under the impression the trips start in outstations, travel bank, how does this work? Thank you!

All trips begin and end in base. Some trips start the week, end the week, or both at an outstation. These trips will have a DH bank associated with them (nominal fare from Base to XYZ or back). Your bank is established at the beginning of the month and is yours to spend on travel just about anywhere as long as you travel within 3 days of a FDX activity. The company is very good at finding the cheapest ticket, particularly if the ticket will never be used, so banks generally are not the true cost of commuting from base to xyz. Fifty percent of your Bank money can carryover to the next month.

Thank you for info.

Is there any “public” info on Fedex flight schedules? To get an idea if my city and surroundings have flights back to MEM on a regular basis? Thanks again.
