Anyone have info on FO junior line holders on each aircraft in MEM?

All over the place. Certain times of the year reserve goes senior in some seats. We now have a more “robust” secondary line systems and so there is really a moving target that would make it difficult to answer your question. If hired today I feel confident in saying that you wouldn’t be on reserve for more than 6 months unless you wanted it in any jet. Just a WAG.

Thanks UA. I hear lines can go pretty junior since the “Memphis bubbas” like to sit home on reserve and hope not to get called. Great for a commuter.

Does anybody happen to have info of aircraft assignments in the past few classes? Thank you in advance!

Everything. Not kidding. Well, maybe not the 767.

777 trends more senior, 757 more junior. Handpicked folks to the MD11.

Thank you,

I've read through pretty much this entire thread. I'm assuming based on previous posts that if hired into the 76/77 today, reserve would be in your future for the foreseeable future. Has that outlook changed at all?

Maybe, if the MEM bubbas can stomach getting their schedules 5 days before the month starts. As UA mentioned, our secondary line system has taken a turn for the worse thanks to our last contract.
As a result, true reserve lines (awarded 19 days before the start of the month) are about 10% of the each MEM fleet's overall bid pack (about half of what they used to be). Secondary lines are pushing close to 25% of the same bid packs. Those are built 5 days before the start of the bid month.

Unless a MEM bubba can hold one of the real reserve lines or doesn't mind getting his reserve schedule very late via the secondary system, they may not bid the way you expect. No way to know for certain, but one would have to assume that a flying line they can plan their life around more than 5 days in advance may drive some locals who can't hold reserve back to normal line.

As a new hire, I'd plan on dealing with the secondary system for as long as it take to break into the top 75-80% of a seat. That may mean reserve, trips or a combination.

I don’t think any new hires are currently going to the 767, but that’s largely correct. Those two fleets have the slowest relative progression.

I think that it is a bit of a misstatement that reserve goes senior and Memphis guys mostly can hang out at home. In my experience (2 years) I have been used all but one or two days I’ve been on reserve. That may not be the case for all fleets (or RB, our afternoon/evening reserve) but that’s been my experience on the MD.

Seems like the 76 is the most senior airplane, for a newer guy. The 777 is the most senior at the top.

For an idea, I’ve been here almost 2 years. Bid 35% on the 757, around 60 on the Bus, 68 on the 11, 80 (?) on the 77 and 94 (!!) on the 76. I’m a west coast guy and hold all wedt coast double deadheads on the 757, but would be sitting RA (night rsv) on the 76. Those were %’s from a bid we had almost a year ago. So it may be different now.

If you can choose, and are a commuter, I would take the 75. It gets a bad rap, and we DO have some nasty pairings but overall I enjoy it and find that the captains are a blast to work with. The progression on this jet compared to the others though, is the best part. You can get what you want sooner.

Can you expand on your reserve experience? Have your been on reserve every month for 2 years and been used everyday but 2, or did you have one block of reserve on a VTO one time in the past two years and were used all but two (i.e. 2 out of 4 days)?

I came off the right seat of the MD this past summer after two years with the company, bid reserve every month on purpose (I'm a local MEM guy) and would say I rarely hit 50% usage over those two years as a new hire.
