flip flops
Verl...
I had that job. Shorts and t shirts, flip flops and fly two days, one off. Day/VFR. Over 120/year. Downside: the job was mapping the Hindu Kush, and other places in Afghanistan. Beyond that, it was a 'Kush' job!!! Good Luck! Cut that pay in half, and you can fly floats in Alaska, Day/Vfr. Shorts and flip flops. Collapsing rod and wheel under the back seat. Ahhhh.... |

Ask yourself why so many 10-20 yr pilots are leaving Flexjet right now or should I say flight options. If you're
already burned out you would be nuts to get involved with this. A little research will save you a lot of frustration down the road. Left for 121 and never looked back. No job is perfect, all have there plusses and minuses but you go to Flex and you might just make enough money that you feel like you can't leave while you watch friends or coworkers going to the airlines and likely making more than double what you will make there with much better retirement benefits. I say that because that's what happened to me. Wish I would have left 10 years sooner. 121. Easiest most relaxing flying job I've ever had and I'm not loading, cleaning, stocking and having pushy a~<holes trying to pressure me. Just a pilot now. |

Exactly. Run away. Management has pitted 2 pilot groups against each other and offered positions out of seniority in hopes of crushing the union. That's why I left after 15 years. Couldn't be a part of the backstabbing, stepping over each other to grab positions you really can't hold.

You probably went to SWA, DL or AA. Just saying “121” is vague. A regional airline pilot will not make double what a 15 year Captain at Flexjet will. Leave for a major airline? Sure. Leave for a regional? Highly doubtful, unless it’s one of the three with guaranteed flow to AA.
Airline pay has come up substantially in the last couple years. Almost all the airlines are hiring. Most have very good retirement compared to Flexjet. Many more options on schedules. The really only good thing about Flex/options is the home basing. I convinced myself I couldn't afford to leave for 15 years. Only regret I have now is wish I would have done it 10 years earlier. Ricci is a pos and for the good people who stay there it will always be just a mediocre job. I have many friends at Flex and hope they all get out. |
I posted this on the other thread as well, but here you go: The arbitrator has issued his ruling. Starting pay is just under $51,000. You will be hired into either the Phenom or the Lear 45/75 fleet. The current pay scales will put you on track to earn just under $83,000 in 15 (FIFTEEN) years. There it is in black and white.

Can someone who is currently employed with Flexjet post or PM me. I am seriously considering this as an option. Currently I am told starting pay is 62K plus per diem that you pocket. 8/6 schedule. Sounds pretty damn good to me. |

Doesn't sound at all close to what I have heard from people that have interviewed and the offers coming out.

What Dutch1 said is sad but true about Flexjet.
$51,000 first year and you max out at $83,000 in year 15 as an FO. Look at the new contract (MCBA 27.1(f)) So plan on sitting in the right seat for years. We have many 15 year FO who are still waiting for an upgrade, so look at the senority list and see for yourself at the number of guys still waiting. 10 years will be the best case scenario. With the changes to the meal plan you will be spending more of your per diem on food so don't count on it as extra cash. As for the bait and switch job offers be careful. Pilots were given some big story about Challengers, Gulfstreams and Legacy 500 during the interview process when doing a little research they would have found out that it was BS. They just had to look at the contract to see what was true. I am told of the 6 in the first class only 2 showed up the first day, expecting to go to Legacy or Challenger 350 school. They were given training slots at Simuflite in the Lear45. After lunch nobody returned to class. So be very careful if you get an offer, don't quit your job too soon. That is what Flexjet management was hoping for so that you would be stuck and forced to take the Lear45 position. (Just remember bait and switch) |
