Vacation time and PTO
Can someone explain how vacation time/PTO is earned, bid, and used? Is it hours per month? And how is it used, in hours, days?
Thanks |

Thanks If you do bid for a vacation, you'll use 5 days of PTO and get the previous 4 days off as well as 4 days off after the 5 days you bid for. So 13 days of, but only paid for 5. |

As a new hire you'll get 5 hours of PTO per pay period which is twice a month. You'll bid every 6 months for a vacation spot if you want one. You don't have to bid for vacation and many people don't. They just work their bid to augment for an extended amount of time off.

How many hours are considered a day if you're earning 5 hours per pay period?

8 hours of PTO is considered to be 1 day of work.

So just to continue the logic 5 hours per pay period, 5 days for 13 days off, 8 x 5 =40 So after 8 pay periods you accrue 1 week (13 Days ) off? Is this correct? If so can any of this be used in the first year or only in year 2/ Thanks

Assuming this is correct, about 2 weeks off every 4 months? That doesn’t sound so bad.
You take 5 days off to get 13 straight vacation days. So if you could get the bid, you could take 39 days off but you're only getting paid for 15. |
