Anyone know if it is possible to take the ATP practical test prior to turning 23. I thought that you could but obviously would not be able to exercise the privileges. I have called the local FSDO and got 4 different answers from 3 different feds. Just wondering if anyone has any definite info on this.

I thought you could do it all at 21 and it became valid when you hit 23. What's the rush?

No rush just rather get the checkride done and over with. I've "Heard" of the 21 thing but can't find anything concrete.

Don't know what your career aspirations are, but if you're considering going to a regional on the way to a major, you can get the ATP free when you upgrade to captain.

Sorry I wasn't more detailed. I work for a 135 company and am getting the ATP for free just wanted to get the ride done and over with.
