Default GI bill question

Hey i just got of the military and im hearing two things about the GI bill benefits.

A: they will cover the cost of PPL thru ATP as long as it is part of Degree program

B: They will only cover flight training after PPL has been achieved.

Anyone else have input on this?

They'll cover flight training past your private pilot certificate. I know I don't need to say this, but save copies of EVERYTHING you send them and everything they send you. The biggest reason why I say this, is because mine came back denied..even though I was more than eligible. When I called them directly, they told me that there was one month where everyone who applied...had their information lost in the system...they told me when it was, and I was in that month...so that's why I came back denied and that I'd need to resend all my paperwork. This was completely seperate from the laptop being stolen...I don't know what ever happened with that.

However, I've been fighting this battle for years now...and I haven't received a penny...and honestly, I don't expect to anymore. I'll have 1000 flight hours and have graduated veterinary school before the issue is resolved, if ever. I figured using the GI Bill would help with defray the cost of flight training, especially since I'm putting in 8 years of college.

Just keep your paperwork, and apply early...it often takes them a while to get the ball rolling.

I'm doing this right now. GI Bill will only reimburse 60% of your flight training cost for each rating after the PPL, regardless of being in school or not. There is a way to use it to assit for PPL, and that's by using the school attendance program, but from what research I did, it wasn't worth it.
