Plan to teach a short systems lesson, about 5-10mins. Absolutely Do Not “spoon feed”! ENGAGE your student “audience” and solicit participation, input and ask THEM questions. They want instructors that are willing to interact positively with clients and willing to ask “how high” when FSI says “jump”. You must absolutely 100% be flexible on work schedule: nights, days, weekends & holidays are “must do” whenever your clients need you to work. Also must be willing to change schedule and do more time on very short notice. Overall a great time to come onboard and get quick advancement, particularly with all the 121 hiring going on.

Re: FSI
I would not count on advancement. A center may have to hundred instructors and five or six mangers. Some one has to die or retire for advancement and many program managers don't last very long. We had five ex-program managers in my program alone. Currency is a problem after you start at FSI so moving on to a flying job is difficult. Working at FSI is a toss up whether you will like it. It is nice being home every night but happiness seems to be dictated by the Center Manager and that can and will change.

Any stats on starting pay? I've heard they had a recent increase across the board but no details...
