No Zwibby, what you need is flight time. Your degree will come into play at the major airline level, even then it's just a required item and not much else, doesn't matter where you got it as long as you have it. And no an Aero Sci degree will not put anybody at an advantage. That's why I recommend studying something completely different in college. If have chosen the avia degree then do management not pro flying, that's a waste. At least management you can have a job in case flying doesn't work out.

I posted this as a new topic... What I would do if I had no degree and looking to become an airline pilot.

Get your 4 yr BA/BS Embry-Riddle degree for $10K. If you like Riddle's name but not their prices, then...

1) move to San Diego, 2) get an associates at San Diego Miramar College ($200 per semester) 3) Transfer to Embry-Riddle at KMYF (San Diego satellite location) and pay $7000 for two years to complete BA/BS. 4) Do your flying on the side for $35k 5) Get hired by ASA or whoever at whatever their low minimums are. 6) Be a happy airline pilot with little debt.

I have a 3.92 GPA
If you have that GPA how come you haven't being able to receive schoolarships to pay most of your tuition?

The most Riddle gives you for an academic scholarship is 4000 a year which I do have. Its nothing when tuition, flight, and room and board costs 45-50k a year. My first year alone put me in the hole 40K. I figure if I get out now I can leave with a useful degree and all of my flight training at a cost of around 80K instead of 120K.

That's one reason I went to UND. Public university so after a year you can get in-state tuition, which is a life saver. Got a full scholarship for all my tuition. Even if I didn't get the scholarship the most my education would cost would be about $60K. I'm about to graduate in August and will only have about $30K in student loans by then. IMHO it is a better program than what Riddle has. Don't get me wrong both are awesome programs I just think UND has more to offer. I figured I can handle living in ND for 3 or 4 years to go with the program of my choice. Your best bet right now would be to go to an FBO and finish up your flying. You could also attend a Riddle satellite campus for a fraction of the cost if you still want a degree from there. Plenty of options out there and any one of them will eventually get you where you want to go. Good luck.

There is a professor assigned just to find schoolarships to students in the college of aviation, last time I checked the list aid was very very long have you checked that?

I'm a riddle student too, what I did was I went to a community college 2 years and took out of the way all the general courses classes and my private /instrument training. All my classes were transfered to ERAU, I'm finishing comercial now and doing CFI fast track in the summer. By doing CFI I will be able to knock out some money and after fininshing my bachelors the masters come free for becoming a CFI full time.

in short words......2 years of ERAU tuition will give me bachelors + master. I think is a good deal.

For two years of ERAU tuition you could get a bachelor's and MBA at UF and still have about $24,000 left over.

Is that for Florida residents only or for non-residents also?.....from what I know if you came from other state to attempt riddle, you are not considered a Florida resident.

Yes, that's resident tuition, but then....every state has a public school system.
