did private + instrument upstate NY, Ithaca. www.ehfc.net. And 2 years of community college.
Transfered to ERAU for comercial + CFI-II (they transfered all my classes from the community college).
Planning to complete bachelors in ERAU, and do my masters for free because of being a full time CFI.
My advise. Go community college first 2 years, do your private + instrument in some cheap place........then transfere to a big school.
PD: if able, check the ERAU extended campus.......same degree more affordable.

Purdue University: PPL, Com/instr, MEL, CFI, tons of great experience, and tons of sheltered experience too.
FBO I worked @ got my CFI-I.
Looking at getting my ATP on my next 135 ride as a combination ride, just have to take the whole thing with the FAA instead of our check-airmen

Its not my favorite.
You could check into military flying clubs if you are near a base. All you have to do to be elgible if you're not military, is to join Civil Air Patrol. I got my Commercial, and CFI that way. Usually terrific experienced instructors. Well maintained airplanes and cheaper too .
