Default Delima - need help ASAP

Hey guys and gals, ok I just got off the phone with the people at ATP and I am ****ed big time... they will not take me into their CFI/CFII/MEI course because unfortunantly they will only take you if you are going to work for them out of training... I am a college student finishing my degree and won't be done until May 08... so thats just not going to flippin happen... However I need to get some instructing in this summer and as early as possible. I have about 500 TT and my CSELI and CMELI ratings. I am done with classes here in Murray no later than mid-May and need to get into a CFI/CFII/MEI program that can be accomplished in a couple of three weeks if possible...

Who would you guys reccomend on this? Obviously ATP isn't going to work which is a crying shame since I wanted the training there - but they obviously aren't interested unless you can work for them immediately after graduation from their program - like I say I am a college student and I go to school in the fall, so NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. Now I am shopping for a new CFI/CFII/MEI school - I would prefer to do a course and take the rides with a DE if possible instead of a FSDO...

Can you all help me out - I need to start in May so I can instruct this summer. Can you all give me some direction on some other good programs? I intend to take out a loan on this stuff...

Help ASAP would be greatly appreciated!

thanks and cheers,
John

What would happen if you get the ratings and walked out? I mean seriously, are they going to take you to the court?

I think there is a CFI flight school in Norman, Oklahoma where you can get your rating rather quick. DO a yahoo search and you will get some info.

I like your logic!

Keep the schools and info coming - I am shopping right now... I need to probably enroll somewhere in the next two weeks because I need to get in ASAP...

Appreciate the help...

They just did you a favor. Do your ratings while in school, get your CFI before you graduate and work part time as an instructor. Save a ton of money in the long run.

Why is everybody so afraid of taking a checkride with an inspector? I did and saved a ton of money even with the pink slip (which turned into a very valuable learning experience).

Look into Ari-Ben Aviator in Florida. You will get a lot of multi engine time and at a decent price. flyaviator.com Good Luck

I almost went to the place in Norman....nice guys, but entirely unorganized. Back when I was doing CFI stuff, they told me to come on out and start training on the first of the month. They said that the housing was included in the cost of the training, and that they would arrange everything. ...Seemed like a great deal.

Anyway, a week before I was supposed to drive out (over 880 miles) I called them up to make sure my accomodations were taken care of. They called up the hotels, and sure enough.....they were all booked for the month due to Oklahoma football weekends. They suggested that I stay at the hotel during the week, and then try and find a place to stay for Saturdays and Sundays for the month. ...Ridiculous.

I ended up doing the FBO. Cheaper and just as fast if you really work your tail off.

Blasphemy! I don't think you are even allowed to use the F word around these parts.

Well its more of a time thing - I am not sitting right smack in the middle of the flight school capital of the world - thus I would have to travel somewhere and it would be far more convenient for me to do my training in a couple of weeks and get it done with and get back here and start cracking with some serious instruction as soon as possible...
Makes me want to punch them in the brain, not the head, the brain! Anyone had any experience with Ari Ben Aviation...
How bad does Flight Saftey suck? I don't think Pan Am Academy has a accelerated CFI program so I won't ask how bad they suck.
I want to do it somewhere, where they aren't going to try and make me commit to a job with them for a year immediatley after graduation of the course... I have a degree to finish by gosh.

Ok I suppose a descent question would be - does anyone know of anyone that offers an accelerated CFI/CFII/MEI course (or courses, I don't mind doing them seperate if I can rack them back to back) that won't try and make me sign a year contract with the immediatly?
