Default Atp Sac

Eventhough I live in northern AZ I am going to the SAC location of ALLATPs so I wont melt in PHX's searing heat this summer. I am scheduled to start the second week of May. Does anyone have an opinion of the SAC location: instructors, equipment, neighborhood of housing (should I bring a gun!LOL) I am very excited and am also looking for honest opinions from current and former students from that location.

Thanks,
jeepthrills

Good location for training...Plenty of cheap / safe housing in SAC. Flying in that area is awesome. I got my PPL at Vacaville's airport.

I have family in Vacaville (part of my reasoning for going to SAC. ) I also have lurked around here long enough to know that you, it seems, are their biggest advocate. But without training with them, correct? Do you have any personal knowledge of the ATP provided housing? Do you know of any terrible neighborhoods within a few miles of Sacramento Executive?

I think that's correct. Your lurking has proved fruitful. I think LAFF's bucking for a discount when he starts his IFR rating at ATP. He sure deserves it.

Not till 2009. ATL location if I do go to ATP. I may just go there for my CFI ratings. I have to visit a small family run flight school in Kansas this september. If all goes well I'll be training there for my IFR - CMCL ME tickets with them.

What ratings are you getting Jeep??? If you are going for instructor tickets they will try and make you work for them - they are short on CFI's right now...

Skycowboy,

Ummm. All of them except for PPL (which I have) and ATP (which I dont qualify for yet).

I decided at my age, their 3 month pilot in a box program (Airline Career Pilot Program) suited my needs for rapid deployment in the field. My first instructor at the local FBO was a product of their "hallowed halls". He was knowledgable enough, and never did anything I would consider dangerous like alot of folks seem to say around here. Matter of fact he just upgraded and got his 4th stripe!

I am hoping when I am done (in August) they will hire me on in PHX to instruct. Only a 2 hr commute home, and great time building!!

After that..I have a little hope Ameriflight will still be looking to fill their 135 position from FLG to PHX nightly. Home every day sounds so good!!

I trained at ATP sac, lets see, the apartments are interesting, but a short drive to the airport, the instructors are awesome, all the iffy ones left, now theres 3 guys that have to be some of the best in the bussiness. The sim is a bit tempermental, but if you talk sweet to her shell get you through. Since ATP does alot of heavy maintance in Riverside, you sometimes get to do maintence flights, those are fun, NOT! your never gonna get a to fly a newer seminole until your XC stage. Some of the planes are OLD! be wary of the check pilot mike trout, hes a fun one!

The location is sac is nice, its close to alot of places, like downtown sacramento, elkgrove, tahoe, that is if you ever get a chance to leave.
