Default Building Time?

Is there any other way to build time other than being a CFI? I refuse to do banner towing but had heard about photography or something like that. I have my commercial and wouldnt mind doing instructing but just wondered what other options i have.

Why would you refuse to do banner towing? Are you against an honest living and a time building option or are you above it?

Get your CFI and instruct...its not just about hours. There is more to building time then simply....building time

i agree with sgt... but there are a buttload of other things, traffic watch, skydiving, sight seeing, crop dusting.

and what i think he meant by the last part (which im sure you probably know), is that you learn so much more from instructing than anything else. teaching other people re-enforces what you've learned and also makes you think about it in more of a conceptional aspect vs. memorization... i guess :-P

Why build time? Get your commercial multi instrument and apply, apply, apply.

Im not saying im above banner towing. I just would never do it for these reasons. 1. You fly low and its hot. 2. You fly low and if there is an engine failure less time to find landing spot. 3. The planes are usually crappy. Thanks for the input guys.

The most critical time when flying banners is actually during the pic. If your engine croaks when you pitch up and you get the banner you are in trouble, low, high pitch attitude and slow.

Banner towing is one of the hardest jobs that anyone could have. You fly in pretty much anything. You get hundreds of hours of tailwheel time...and since you are flying (typically) by the beach, you can get some pretty interesting winds.

Stick and Rudder Baby!!!!!!

But if you don't want to do that, or instruct...how about flying skydivers? There are some adds on climbto350 for skydiver pilots. A few of the adds are in Hawaii and out West. Check it out...
