Default instrument and commerical

I'm about to graduate college and start back up my flight training. I'm trying to get ahead start on my studies by reading the FAA instrument Flight Procedures and Instrument Flight Hand book in addition to the Gliem Instrument pilot book.

By doing all this reading, am i going to save time when i do my studying for my commercial?

Commercial certificate testing and training is all vfr. It doesn't test instrument skills or knowledge.
