ATP Knowledge Test Expiration Period Exemption

ATP Knowledge Test Expiration Period Exemption
I've heard several rumors about the handling of the expiration of an ATP Knowledge test. Is there anyone here that can point me to the specific policy regarding this? Is it an FAR reference, or in the examiner's handbook, etc?
The most useful reply will include a specific reference to official regulations or policies, rather than a rumor that you're pretty sure is true...
Specifically I'm trying to figure out how it would apply under a part 135 approved training program, if at all. For instance, I took the test two years ago, and have been employed at two different part 121 carriers since. I'm trying to figure out if I'm going to need to re-take it for a part 135 ATP checkride.
Once again, I'm looking for something official here, not urban legend or what you've heard. Thanks in advance!

Off-hand, this is discussed in FAA-G-8082-1a:
http://www.faa.gov/education_researc...-g-8082-1a.pdf
It's also in the ATP PTS:

Awesome! Thanks a bunch. Here is what the first reference says:
The 24-month limitation does not apply if you:
1. are employed as a flight crewmember by a certificate holder under 14 CFR parts 121, 125, or 135 at the time of the practical test and have satisfactorily accomplished that operator’s approved:
a. pilot in command aircraft qualification training program that is appropriate to the certificate and rating sought; and
b. qualification training requirements appropriate to the certificate and ratings sought; or
2. are employed as a flight crewmember in scheduled U.S. military air transport operations at the time of the practical test, and have accomplished the pilot in command aircraft qualification training program that is appropriate to the certificate and rating sought.
So... What does that mean? Number 1 seems to say "that operator's approved... program," which sounds like you have to work for the same place as when you took the test.

You can take the ATP knowledge test prior to employment. However you must be employed by a part 121, 125, or 135 carrier and complete their approved training program to use an expired ATP knowledge test at the ATP practical test given by the carrier's APD.
