But rental rates for a twin are the thing I think about. I don't want to pay 200 per hour to fly. I'll take half that for my 200 hours and then only 8 in a ME. After that, start finding some "friends" with a twin. The kind that want to let you fly. Get the ME for free if possible. That'll save you a lot of money.

Then why get the multi before? Unless, of course, you have a friend who owns/flies a twin and you can ride along.

The problem that newbs are faced with is that you need that magic 50-100 hours of multi a lot sooner than you used to. 5 years ago, that 100 hours was less than 10% of your total time. Now guys are getting hired on with that 100 hours being 20-40% of their total time. Makes a big difference in how you attack the beast. There isn't time to pick up that 100 hours a few hours here and there if you are only going to 500 before the interview.

Now if this is the right approach, well that's another dicussion!

well yeah that is half the point.. but i mean, you dont have to get a ALL your hours in a twin, just a few here or there when the opportunity presents itself.

don't forget that the commercial manuvers will take a lot of practice to get them to PTS, and then there are the Cross Country requirements.
The books make it seem like the man. are cut and dry n simple to perform. They take time to get, especialy trying to learn how to perform them slowley. Slow is the only way to do the manuvers.

What are the PTS manuvers for the commercial? It will be a long time before I am doing them since the ink is still wet on my PPL.

The PTS is available online. In fact, here's the link:

There's plenty of things you can do to build the time, and keep it fun, challenging, and interesting also.
Thats a really good point. I just went the timebuilding route to get the multitime but getting additional ratings is a very good idea. wish i would have thought of it b4 o well the multi time looks good
