Multi-Time building

Looking to build 50-75 hours multi time in NE Ohio in the next couple weeks. Does anyone know of any deals?

cfii2007 12-04-2007 01:34 PM

Uh..................

Niner 12-04-2007 03:28 PM

Where exactly in NE OH??? The flight school I am at is in Western New York and they have a Duchess to build time with and a program for it. Its less than a two hour drive from Ashtabula. I think it comes to around $100 an hour. Let me know if you want more info.

Good luck here in the next few weeks without FIKI :D. I don't know all the options, but a few: T&G has a 310 at LNN, Skypark has a Geronimo, AKR has a Seneca 2, I just saw that Capital City at OSU has a Twin Commanche (probably better wx there as well until the lake freezes). I think there's an Aztec at CGF as well, but not sure.

Where are you in Western NY with Multi Time for 100 an hour?

tjunior 01-18-2008 10:25 PM

Did I catch a Niner in there?

motoboy 01-18-2008 10:29 PM

Were you on a walkie talkie?

Iam looking to get my multi and build time. I live in Rochester, NY and would love to get time around here and not have to travel south. Forgive me for asking but Iam new to this, but when two people split the time how does that work? Does one fly under the hood and the other is the safety pilot both log the time and split the cost in half? What about insurance and getting checked out in the plane. Most places will not even let you take a complex up b/c of insurance how will they let you take up a multi? Any help on places around here to get it done would be great. I was thinking about going to Multi action ratings to get the rating but would need another place for the time.....any help would be great!

"Does one fly under the hood and the other is the safety pilot both log the time and split the cost in half?"

That is correct.

"What about insurance and getting checked out in the plane."

You're best bet is to do your multi at a place that will let you use the plane for timebuilding. Let's say they require 20 hours to rent. You could spend that whole time getting your ME and then meet the reqs for their insurance. It's a costly way to do it, but a school that trains you and has worked with you often gets you a break on the insurance. But, yeah, the insurance thing can be a problem. If you need 25 multi to meet the insurance mins, you'll need to do that dual before you can timebuild.

Initial multi commercial. You get about 25+ multi time and your commercial knocked out.

de727ups 01-20-2008 11:59 AM

Isn't the commercial multi checkride basically the same as a private? Why would it take 25 hours? I mean, I guess you could make it take that long if you wanted the time, but if a guy can get the private multi in 5 hours, what not a commercial multi in 5?

Just wondering.

I guess you'd need 10 complex for the commercial.

mcartier713 01-20-2008 12:41 PM

I'm pretty sure you can get your multi-com in like 5 hours... I'm getting my add-on in a twin commanche in 8 hours... I guess it all depends on the school's program.

I know you have to have 15 hours multi PIC to get your MEI tho.

IlliniPilot99 01-20-2008 02:15 PM

no requirement for a multi add on and the checkride was the easiest one I ever took. I know guys who got there multi in about 5 hours (what mcartier713 said)and thats with a 1.5 hour checkride, I got mine after 10.5 hours (in a C310) and been flying in it to get ME PIC.

If i remeber i think the checkride goes:
-normal takeoff
-engine failure on rakoff roll
-engine failure on climbout and return for landing on one engine
-normal climb/cruise
-steep turns
-slow flight
-take-off/landing/full flap stall
-Single engine shutdown and restart
-Vmc demonstration
-Drag demonstration
For instrument:
-ILS approach and missed approach
-ILS approach with engine failure

wow you got your add-on in a C310? nice... quite the plane for training. a guy on the airport that I work at just bought a '76 310 and brought it home today. I'm going to see if I can get about 5 hours in that thing once I get my rating... another guy on the field has a P-Baron that I want to get 5 hours in too, depending on how much it will cost me and if its worth it :p

Scooter2525 01-20-2008 06:43 PM

I'm saying an INITIAL commercial in a multi engine. Not initial in single. Check out 61.129 (B) for the multi requirements.

Pretty much. I just had mine a couple of days ago. The only difference is that he did not fail an engine on climb out, but I had to short field takeoffs & landings, and a single engine circle to land from the ILS approach.

wmarti31 01-21-2008 11:13 AM

BTW, since I just got my multi/comm/inst, I am looking into building some multi PIC time, but the school won't let me take the plane without a MEI. Besides renting the plane and paying the MEI to seat next to me, are there any other options (cheaper) to build multi time? Thanks.

de727ups 01-21-2008 11:16 AM

I know a guy with an Apache setting up a timebuilding program. Insurance mins aren't a problem. You'd have to go to SoCal to do it, though.

really...circle to land from an ILS, technically you don't need to do that for a comm add on, only for an ATP checkride, but I did practice them during the training

Well, we were on the single engine approach (RWY 35) coming in for a full stop. RWY 17 was the active, and he did not give me the engine back when I started circling.

Check your PMs, I sent you one in reference to a post in another multi time building thread.

Even though I live in NY I work for an airline so travel isnt a problem right now. I would love more info on this! Looking for about 50hrs as soon as I get my multi done.

hey jamin35008, if you would, send me an email to [email protected]. I work for an airline as well, and am looking at heading to Florida to make some multi time happen quick here.
