Doing a masters at Riddle via the online program is actually cheaper than most other colleges. You can subtract the room and board from that figure and it's semi-affordable.

extended campus / online "worldwide" is the way to go, they GIVE you up to 36 credits if you complete through your mei, for the Pro Aero degree.

Without financial aid I payed just over 20k for my first semester as a freshman. Not suprisingly, I bailed in December.

To quote an SNL sketch, I not only drank the Koolaid, I went back for seconds. :D

you can do riddle. just follow these three easy steps:

1...if you are going to a campus, transfer in every general ed course you can AND flight certificates

2...take erau through the extended campus. ~60% cheaper than going to a campus

3...if you go to a campus, get through the CFI course and become an instructor before you graduate. 6 credit hours for the spring, summer, and fall semesters are free (so in theory using what i said above, you may only elect pay for one semester @ riddle...free masters after 2 years)

my take: this is aviation. just get a piece of paper with a college's name on it and youre set. spend the rest of your time flying.

I just got a Bachelor's degree in Aviation technology, and I am thinking about getting a Master's online at ERAU. Any suggestions?

exactly. Go to a community college and get your AA degree or just get alll your GE transfer courses done and you private pilot done at your local aiport. Then go to ER.

I knew of a person that had all their cert and went to Riddle to do their CFI. Well, they just couldn't cut it because they didn't do things the "Riddle Way". Lesson- If you got your certs somewhere else, you probably aren't going to make it through the Initial Riddle CFI training and job interview unless you have been a CFI somewhere else with a lot of experience. Then again this was back in '92.

Also, don't forget about the unwritten 50 mile rule there. If you took classes at a school withing a 50 mile radius, Riddle will not accept those transfer credits.

Dude

your absolutely right. In fact as recently as 2004 it was difficuly to get hired unless you got your cfi-ii with them because they gave priority to those guys. Currently there aren't enough students doing the cfi course to cover atrition. 7 were in the december new hire class and from what i heard, they all made it. The january hiring class was cancelled because they couldn't find enough people to commit to show up. pay is 14 with no degree and 15.77 with one. After 750 hrs dual airplane given you get about a 1.50 pay raise.

i was wondering when they were going to do that seeing as most of our new hires are still going to school here...
