Depends on what you do. If you're out in the field a lot with this airplane they can be pretty nice. On the other hand, it's really easy (and free if you have a computer) to just set up a spreadsheet and do it on there.

I find it takes more time to do it on my CX-2 than it does to do it on paper and just using the CX as a calculator. Plus as a student pilot you need to understand what you have to do to get those final numbers.
On your checkride you may have an examiner that is a real jerk and will take your W&B Calc and pull out the batteries and say "your batteries are dead, now what"... Then you will HAVE to know how to do it (or carry a bunch of spare batteries haha)... Nothing wrong with getting one, but definitely understand what you are doing EVEN if you are going to use it long term....
