Atp written
Hey guys it's been awhile for me and a friend of mine was wondering about atp written test. Does he have to take the 121 or 135 portions only or both? he has an interview coming up with a regional soon.
Thanx |
Depends on what hes applying for. If its a requirement of a 121 job, I would assume take the 121 portion unless told otherwise.
|
Doesn't matter which one he takes. When you sit down to take the test, it will give you the option of 121 or 135. Choose either one. The tests are slightly different. I don't remember the exact differences.

It doesn't matter which one he takes. The 121 test has a smaller test bank though.

the difference is the performace charts (DC9, 727, etc vs. a 1900) and a few regs. the 135 is easier because of the performance chart portion.
doesnt matter which one unless the carrier requires it. I have never seen this be the case and once you have your atp it doesnt distinguish which atp test you took, an atp is an atp. I guess on an upgrade checkride an examinar might get picky about it but i dont know why execpt to be a jerk. When you fill out apps online they ask if you have the written but never specify if its the 121 or 135 so one could assume they dont care. |
Ladies and gents.
Appreciate the good info, i'll be sure to pass it on to him. |
The written is good for two years, unless you are employed by a 135/121 carrier, right? Then it's indefinite? If you take it and are hired 6 months later, is it now good indefinitely, instead of for 1.5 more years? Thx.

What if you take the written before being employed by a 121 carrier. Does it then not expire until after you have been hired or do you have to take it while you were working at a 121 carrier?
