Be wary of the attitude "I don't need anybody, I can do this myself." I realize it is kind of a slap in the face when your parents aren't completely supportive of your goals, but you must realize that you will need there help. I had a father who fostered the idea of flight all through childhood and was actually shocked when I decided to fly professionally. My parents have since come around, but there is NO way that my training and education would be possible without them. I attend college at Auburn where I go to school, work, and flight train. In the summers I live with them at the house so that I can continue to train cheaply until the next semester. Without them, my interest rates would be laughable.

It's a long road that I'm not too far on myself. People are key, though. Never be afraid of a helping hand. That's the nice thing about aviation.

Also, just an afterthought, but unless you are working in some area of the country that I'm just not familiar with, rarely does one start out at $10/hour with their very first job.

If you could I'd have to ask you to supply us with some sort of evidence that you are in fact a pilot

Some people who live in (or were raised in) Taiwan may not appreciate being called Chinese.

The experienced pilot law (age 65 ruling) has pushed back some airline hiring for several years.

Perhaps in those years you may want to pursue the accounting or my favorite - the engineering bachelor's degree.

(This has been suggested in your thread) If you can work a part time job at a Fixed Base Operator (FBO) in between school semesters you may be able to build flight time on your own earnings.

Finish the degree. Get the engineering/accounting job closest to your hometown. If your parents would allow you to remain in the household for a year or two after graduation you may be able save and spend time and money earning your aircraft certificates and ratings.

One of the happiest times of my life was when I was in my early 20's, working full time as an avionics design engineer and flight instructing nights and weekends.

Possibly you could be in your mid to later 20's with a degree and a choice to leave the engineering/accounting profession and join us lucky aviators.

Good luck with whatever you choose.
So are they stereotypical Formosan parents? ROC= Republic of Formosa?
