Default Type ratings

Hello, I am currently a freshman in high school. Anyways I was wondering if it would be wise to get a type rating before interviewing, or if I should let the airlines pay for it if I get hired.
Thanks,

Make them pay, you'll spend enough money on your Commercial, Multi, Instrument, CFI, etc...

Do NOT pay for your own type rating. You'll be a professional and you deserve to be paid for your services. You'll only devalue yourself and your profession by doing so.

doesn't SWA require you to pay for your own 737 rating?

They don't care how you get it, so technically they don't require you to pay. If you can get one from a previous employer or the military it's the best way to go.
