Turbulence And Anxiety
#11
Good to know that I am not alone in this. I can't believe my CFI stalled the airplane 2 times on my first lesson! Woah now that was rather terrifying... I read in an av mag somewhere that in the SWA interview they ask, "have you ever been scared in an airplane before." I don't want to lie although it's great place... if I ever got an interview with SWA, the answer is going to be heck yes, I have.

I have to say I have experienced "the bumps" in the heat of orlando and florida, but so far at Skywest in the Brasilia that LAX-IYK (Inyokern) is by far the most eye opening. And man does it have a reputation for turbulence, plus I have done all my flying in the plains of ND, and then instruct all over the SE in Florida. Flying out west around the mountains, sure is eye opening on what turbulence you can experience. And IYK is respected from the captains I have flown with as the "home to some serious turbulence Every new experience you get more "used to it" and the confidence level goes up. But man there has been times flying into clouds that have major uplifting that has scared me but at the same time you learn from it and can prepare yourself, avoid and somewhat predict what you might expect before it becomes a surprise.
