How quick were you all able to get through the program? I dont care about cost, I need to go wherever I could get typed the fastest as my current employer wouldnt enjoy me taking 2+ weeks off... I heard 10 days was a best-case scenario, anyone do it faster? Thanks

I gotta put in my 2 cents and and vouch for K&S in PHX. Stellar staff and instructors, very flexible scheduling with working folk, definitely one of the best prices I found. Also Im pretty sure they have an inside track (like HPA) with Southwest. As hjs1971 said, the WN PHX asst. chief pilot meets with classes there and they fax your temp directly to the Southwest Ppl Dpt. Got the email for the interview a month after finishing with far from an abundance of internal recs at Southwest.

Excel- did the home study ground and it was 9 days in PHX at K&S. 1 day ground review, next day the oral and -200 differences. then 6 days of sim and day 9, the checkride. As far as i know you can split up the non sim days (2 days) and the sim/checkride days (7 days)

rickair,
HPA is what I have been hearing also.

skippy,
Thanks. I am not interested in United. The question was only about getting a 73 type.

Walldo11,
That is what I am hearing, HPA, Check your PM's. Thank you.

328Dude, Starlifter, Waborita
Thank you. Can't do VA. HPA sounds great.

hjs1971, I looked at K&S the yrs. ago. and again recently. I can't go the VA route. Steam is all I know at this point. Thank you. Good Luck.

quimby,
I will check FTI, not familiar with them. Thanks

You might want to check with the facilities about the program they offer. I believe some of them can to it in 7-8 days if you have 2-3 days of ground already done. Would not require you to take 10 days in a row. Maybe you'd have to attend the facility twice. Thanks and good luck.

FTI took me 6 days. I started on Sunday, checkride on Friday morning. You do about 30 hrs on a computer as home based study and then we asked to extend the normal sim time from 4 hrs to 6 hrs to cut two days off the 8 day course. Well worth it, $4995 out the door.

Why is SWA not on the FTI Client List ? You would think that if one client trained there and went to SW they would definately be on the list.

Looks like a good place to get typed.

dbtownley 09-19-2008 07:52 AM

I am not sure about their client list. I went to the DFW location but I know they have more around, Denver is their HQ. I also did the type after I got the "pre-hire" call.

Cheyenne Driver 09-19-2008 01:30 PM

Now I understand your situation. I would have done it the same way. Looks like they are also in ATL.

I did the FTI program in Las Vegas last August and did the 8-day program with home self study in six days. Started on Sunday and done on Friday. I didn't have a bunch of time and it was $4995. I got called for an interview at the beginning of June. It was an ok experience but have heard a lot of good things about their Denver program. If I had to do it again I would have gone to Denver because that is where the school is based. I also don't think I would have done the six day program again and gone with the 8 or 10 day program.
