If you are interested in being a naval aviator, that path would probably be best explained by moderator USMCFLR who is a Hornet pilot and would be very able to explain it. Those guys are generally well educated, and naval flight school is very competitive.

If you are interested in being and enlisted naval recruit who has access to a flying club or flight training programs designed for enlisted men, I doubt if there is very much in that regard but I do not know for sure. I do know that the military has funding designed to help enlisted people obtain flight training through privately operated Part 141 flight training schools, and I think that path may be the most applicable to your situation, but again I really do not know much about it. Rickair7777 and some of the others who are former military may offer some advice on how to follow that path.

i was thinking more along the lines of me being enlisted doing whatever, and the military paying for my civilian training as part of the deal. i've googled the subject but cant find anything more specific than saying that education is paid for. i can't access the military part of the forum, so i guess i will have to hope the right person stumbles on and sees this post.

You've got 20 posts now- why not PM someone like RickAir7777 or USMCFLYR and ask them what they think is best for guys in your situation. They get these kinds of questions all the time. I am sure they can tell you what is the best way to go through a military enlistment to get flight training out of the package. Don't give up the dream, you can do it, and it's worth doing. Military members can use their VA benefits to get reimbursed for flight training. The VA only pays for courses above the Private Pilot Certificate. At the end of the month the school certifies all the payments you have made for flight training and it is submitted to the VA. A couple of weeks later you receive a check for 60% of the amount. You can only use those benefits at a FAA part 141 school. In addition the VA must have inspected and appoved the school for VA benefits.

In the Atlanta area those schools would be Fulton Aviation Flight School, and Aviation Atlanta. There are 1 or 2 other part 141 schools in the Atlanta area but not all are VA benefits approved.
