I go to MTSU...
We run the new FITS syllabus under 141 for the Private, Instrument, and Commercial. FITS is the same training but without the hour requirement, everything is proficency based. I went through FITS and got my Private/Instrument at 75 hours, Commercial at 125, and CFI at 150. We offer other labs including Multi-engine, CFI, CFII, MEI, High Performance, and Tailwheel but they are all still Part 61.
Coming in you would be a major in Aerospace concentration in Pro Pilot, on campus you take classes such as Aerodynamics, Propulsions, Weather, etc. and you complete it just like any other college major. The flight labs are 1 credit hour and are done at the airport which is about 5 miles from campus.
As far as the overall program goes, we are often recommended as one of the top in the country, and are constantly striving to better ourselves. As you may have heard we fly the largest Diamond fleet in the world, many people have their things to say about the Diamonds but they are really great aircraft. The fleet numbers go as follows:
8 G1000 Diamond DA-40s with Synthetic Vision (less than 5 months old)
5 G1000 Diamond DA-40s
6 Round Dial, dual Garmin 430, Diamond DA-40s
3 Piper PA-28R Arrows (For Commercial)
2 Piper PA-44 Seminoles (For Multi)
1 Diamond DA-20 (For CFI spin training)
1 Piper PA-18 Cub (For Tail Wheel)
1 DeHavilland DHC-2 Beaver (For Advanced Tailwheel)
1 Beechcraft King Air 200 (For Air Charter Lab, fly right seat with chief pilot)
You can get some of the basic information at our websites MTSU Department of Aerospace and http://flight.mtsu.edu if you want any other information just shoot me a PM, i'd be glad to help you out.
