What is the main difference between Cessna 172S and 172SP?
Some 172S POH comes with NAV III (3). I assume this is G1000. If so, what is NAV I and NAV II ? THanks! |
from my understanding....
The "S" and "SP" are essentially the same model... I believe that the "S" is just a progression of a model after the "R", the SP is just a marketing term for the "S" refered to the extra 20hp, "super performance" along with interior upgrades |
Nav II had all the old goodies like the KLN-94 and MFD-550. Nav I was a package without the Autopilot or MFD I believe.

Nothing to add except the above is correct, SP refers to the 180hp and the R is 160 hp. Nav III is G1000, Nav II, fancy round dials and Nav I, basic recent Cessna.
