Did you ask them to email you the call-outs, limitations, flows and memory items. If you know all of these before you get there, it makes a WORLD of difference..... They don't like doing that for some reason, they usually tell you "we'll teach you everything you need to know". But still, it makes everything so much easier if you get that before hand. I asked for that when I went in for my Hawker training, they said no. Got all of that a week before the sim, but we were in the middle of systems, didn't really have a chance to look those over.
Other than that, study hard and have a good time. That's a prety good type to have as far as job security, lots of king Airs flying around.
You mind telling us who you fly for?

Like any training organization Flightsafety has good and bad instructors.
Most are top notch.
However if your not getting what you expect in the way of instruction....Let management know.
If its your first EFIS or Flight Director/Autopilot experience....bone up on how it works.
Nothing worse than looking thru a improperly cued system to fly the airplane.
Fumbling around in the sim can be mitigated by figuring out before you set foot in it where everything is and how its operated.
Flightsafety is great about providing trainingv aids for such things.
Good Luck and have fun.

I'm with the Forest Service and I'm a Co-pilot in the Sherpa we use to drop jumpers. We have the KingAir for lead plane and admin flights.
Thanks for the info I swooped a co-workers checklist an flew the hanger for a few days but this will be my first time at FSI and gathering intel's helps me prepare. Doing my best not to look like a doofus but I seem to have that innate ability.
Again thanks

Cool
Privateeir is spot on about the instructors. If you get a guy that you don't get along with, say something....it happened to me before, I didn't want to say anything because I didn't want to cause any problems being the "new guy" and all. We did not get along, everything went donwhill fairly quickly. I finally said something, just in time to save my training.

I wouldn't worry at all about the looking like a doofus. When I went to FSI for the first time I couldn't even spell "jet" and I was there for a Hawker type. I was surprised how helpful everyone was and how much other people were in the same boat as me even though they had thousands of hours more time than I had. Others here have got it right: memory items, limitations, and profiles and you will do fine. If you have a hard time getting this info contact the training center and talk to the program manager for the 90 and they will most likely be able to help. I have never used it although I’m told you may be able to access this stuff (pre-course study material) online on myflightsafety which is on their website.
So if you don’t mind me asking, how do you like working for the US Forest Service?

Hello all,
An update on my FSI experience. I had a blast, I had Steve as an instructor, great guy knows the plane inside and out and all the folks at the center were fantastic.
Stay safe everyone

Good to hear.... so you're currently in ground school, have you started the sim-sessions-torture chamber???? When is the ride??
