Default Butterflies and flying part 2

The title of my thread is in reference to a previous thread by RmTrice http://www.airlinepilotforums.com/fl...o-nervous.html

I remember reading this a while ago, and after my solo flight today I read it again. It is an excellent thread and many kudos to RmTrice for being a remarkable example for those new pilots who should be extra cautious rather than thinking that they know all about it. I have been flying solo around the pattern over the past few weeks, but today I felt different due to thermals rising and some gusty winds on final. The first couple of landings were not the best, followed by an okay one, followed by another bad one. I had to really fight the last landing of the day because it blew me off course and I had to use some cross wind techniques to get me back to center line, it was a good one and I felt good about greasing it at last. My instructor saw me and asked me how I did. I said I didn't do too well and that I should have done better. He told me to consider it as a learning experience and to keep practicing.
This was my first "turbulent, windy" solo flight and honestly I was feeling uncomfortable with how things went. Okay, I was a little nervous and it definitely distracted me from making good approaches and thus resulting in bad landings. I decided to terminate my session at .8 hours because I felt that the landings are not getting better as I was being tossed around. I felt like I was chickening out, at the same time, I kept telling myself that I have more time to practice and with time I will get better at dealing with flying by myself under bumpy conditions. I also kept looking at nearby landing sights if things didn't go as planned. Although I performed rather poorly on today's flight I thought it was an excellent learning experience for the next turbulent day. Again thank you RmTrice for sharing your story as I felt compelled to share mine as well.
