Default ATP Written

Question....might sound somewhat naive, but does the ATP written expire after 24 cal months like all the other written exams??

And whats the difference between the 121 and 135?? Just mainly regs?

I was thinking about taking the ATP written (im currently just a CFI) but dont know if its worth my time if it expires before I get a job...

The ATP written does expire unless you are employed with a 121 carrier. The difference between the 2 exams is that 121 covers everything except 135 regs. Also, 135 does not cover several of the aircraft performance data like the 727, 737 and DC-9. The 135 test only covers the Beech 1900 performance questions.

No matter which test you take, after the check ride you still have an ATP. Follow the path of least resistance. Also if you choose to pay for the ATP it's a big investment and write off.

K because now I just saw a thread from awhile back saying that an expired ATP written is still valid at a 121 carrier. Is this true??

yes, its true. At a 121 carrier, an ATP applicant may use an expired ATP written exam. Using the search function would be very valuable here. Rickair777 has quoted the exact reg many times. At least I think it's him who has.
