PPL offered in 2 weeks? Tailswheelsetc

Thank you HSLD. Well said. I think that most enthusiastic prospective pilots are very excited by that "happy thought" of flying a shiny jet, as depicted in those advertisements, that they don't realize (because they are ignorant) what it truly takes to become a good/safe pilot. It is a sad aspect of the American culture that values instant gratification, and the consequences can be dismal...
p.s. Is it really possible for one to finish through a Jepp text, study for the final exam, the oral, written, do all the flying in 2 weeks? Is it really possible? It took me well over 2 weeks for me to perfect on my landings

My orthopedic surgeon went through med school and did an orthopedic residency in 4 weeks and I can walk ... well enough at least.
Could someone just explain to me what the rush is?
1) No one is hiring
2) When hiring picks up, the mins will be huge
3) Even after the mins drop...looks like they wont be able to hire without an ATP
This is not only unnecessary, its outright dangerous. Oh, you've never fired a gun before? How about we give you a machine gun, 5 minutes of instruction and drop you into Afghanistan?
A 2 week PPL course is just handing over an instrument for someone to kill themselves, family, or friends.

I would prefer to called them just 'uneducated' vice ignorant. To me. ignorant implies that a person has attempted to learn the information and just can't seem to grasp the idea, or worse yet, refuses to grasp the information. These people that you are talking about are not being fed good infromation to start with at these flight schools (at least the ones that preach the zero to hero career progression). Just my opinion.

Anyhow, thanks to everyone for the replies. I totally agree that flying is not just about getting the paper.
Just like educational degrees are paper (and sometimes wastes of time, cough), they are worthless without years of practical experience, making mistakes and learning from them.
My personal belief is that this "2 weeek PPL" is similar to technology related certification bootcamps (a la CCIE Bootcamp) where people fork over a few grand and over the course of a day or two undergo a massive brain dump on key points and practice exams.
Certifications/Paper doesn't mean clue.
(PS - Sorry for posting the URL in the first post, I didn't realize I was breaking the forum rules. I was just using it to reference the site should anyone have additional questions)

You know, FWIW, I support the training models of places like ATP, DCA & Ariben; however, I can't see doing the PPL in 2 weeks. IMHO, it's being irresponsible, idiotic and downright dangerous.
I'm going to give the Tailwheelsetc the benefit of the doubt though. I'm guessing you probably have to have your written done before arriving there.

Doing a PPL in two weeks is pure idiocy.
I credit much of my sucess in aviation to sound instruction from my first CFI who took his time and taught me at a pace that helped me retain good stick and rudder skills. The PPL is the foundation for the rest of your career.
There is no way, in two weeks, that ANYBODY could develop sound skills in basic stick and rudder flying.

Just for the record, I never said I supported doing it in 2 weeks, just that I've flown at Tailwheels and had a good experience. My sister did her PPL at FlightSafety in 5 weeks and 44 hours or so, and even that amazes me. Maybe that's because it took me 6 months since I actually had to work to pay for it at the same time.

This 2 week PPL business can't be worse than some sport pilot only schools... or even the sport pilot license requirements...
If I had to choose I'd rather a family member fly with a 2 week PPL than a new certified sport pilot!
