Headsets

Besides Sporty's Pilot shop, anyone have any other websites that sell them a little cheaper?
And also, I want it to be a good investment, but I don't want to pay more than 275 for something that can last me through my flight training, and a couple years at a regional. Any other suggestions on manuafactuers besides David & Clark?
Thanks

try eBay and see what they got, there are alot of different companies out there, I personally recommend DC just cause ive had mine for about 9 years now and they work just as great as the day i got em. H10-13.4 is a good model, light and clear sound, may find one on eBay for low-mid 200s, guess ive never looked for em so i dont really know the specifics

I would not recommend David Clark. I have tried lots of headsets, and I do not see why David Clark headsets are priced a good $100 more than comparable headsets.
I personally recommend noice cancelling headsets. What a difference! You can get a low/medium end pair for $350-500 dollars. If you have any doubt, try a pair of noise cancelling headsets in flight. Fly the first part of the flight with the noise cancelling off, and then turn it on for the rest of the flight. You will notice a HUGE difference.

Its all a matter of preference, a perfectely fine headset for person A might not be the right one for person B. You can get headsets with ANR for super cheap on EBAY, but they will be no name headsets that probebly will not last long (but they may, who knows). If you pay around $300 for a ANR headset, it will probebly be a quality one, just maybe not the most comfortable. When the prices get up above $500, then the sets get pretty confortable, and of course they will have ANR.
Now when I say comfortable, its merely opinion, just something that I have observed.

Don't you have a pilot store around you somewhere? An FBO or something? Most places that sell them will let you demo them. Try them all and see what ones you like. Different brands have different feelings and sounds. I started with DCs and I found them to be like a clamp on my head. I have Lighspeeds now, I like them, but they are a bit more money. There are a lot of headsets out there, just find one that fits you.

I have Soft Comm headsets. If you are going to make a career out of it, ABSOLUTELY get the ANR headsets. I purchased a headset when I was working on my private that wasn't. It still works and came with a 5 year warranty. I recently purchased another Soft Comm with ANR for like $280. I haven't had the opportunity to use it yet, but I've been pleased with Soft Comm. The place that sells the Soft Comm C-200 (the one I bought) cheap is www.marvgolden.com.

Alrighty gents, after a couple days of checking out a number of DC's, I went ahead and ordered a H10-30 from Marv Golden in San Diego today. I cant wait for it to get here. . . lol
It was more of a visual stimulation que that drew me away from the H10-13.4 and towards the -30, the microphone just looks so much better, more gritty, down to business...geeky, and silly at the same time, just couldn't pull myself away from it.
Just ready for it to get here, should be in by Thurs.

DC is the way to go. I've had my H10-20s since I took my first intro flight back in high school. Upgraded to the bose not too long ago, but still rely on my trust DCs for whoever decides to risk it all and fly in a 172 with me. Those H10s have been through some nasty stuff, and they still wear like new. Nothing's like American Made!
