thanks for the tips, "pinning the aircraft on the ground" with slight forward pressure worked well. Flew the other day and everything seemed to click and was doing good wheel landings on pavement and grass with a reasonable amount of wind as well. Got the endorsement as well :0)

When I learned wheel landings, it took me almost 15 hrs to get it down and I had 850 hrs and 500 hrs dual given as a CFII/MEI at the time (I know, freakin idiot) but I digress.

The trick I had to beat into myself is breaking the "oh crap, bad landing, must pitch up!!!" mentality.

When doing a Wheel Landing, the best thing is fly it like a normal tricycle gear airplane until a fraction of a second prior to the wheels kissing (if ur good) the pavement.

At the instant (fraction of a second prior to) when the main's touch the ground, move the stick ever so slightly forward. This will allow keep the landing smooth while decreasing the AOA of the wing enough to keep the wheels on the ground while you rollout from touchdown.

You don't wanna push the stick forward (that could be back) rather simply release a little back pressure. Think of it like leveling off in slow flight. You don't push forward, you simply release back pressure.
