Headset

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to decide on a headset.
Shouldn I go with the David Clark X11 ANR or the lightspeed Zulu?

Which headset do you have?
How do you like it?

Thank you

I have tried the Bose X, Bose A20, X11, & Zulu. I got the Zulu. The Zulu and Bose X are evenly matched, but the Bluetooth capability sold me. The A20 has Bluetooth and is a little quieter than the Zulu or Bose X. The only downside is it is completely plastic and it does not seem durable. The David Clark X11 is by far the worst. It is not as quiet, plastic, and bulky.

Used Sigtronics on Ebay for $50. Save your money for 100LL.

Thank you Turbine for the insight!

Seriously, if you are a primary student, I wouldn't purchase a Bose X. Get something cheap for now and once you get into it, you can upgrade. Save money for 100LL fer sure!

I fly with a Zulu, and before that I had a Telex Stratus 30. I would recommend both. The Telex was very solid and well built (Made in USA) but was very bulky and had a good amount of clamping force, which gave me a headache on long XC's. I decided to splurge on a Zulu and I'm very happy. It's quiet, the Bluetooth works great, and the ANR seems to work very well. I haven't really used any other headsets, so that's all the advice I can give.

Humor? I have over 13,000 hours and still use Sigtronics headsets. I'll never waste money on expensive headsets. If you're worried about hearing loss, earplugs are .50 cents. I don't buy portable GPS units either. Don't need them.

For $150, I picked up a David Clark H10-13.4 and a David Clark H10-30 from an old guy at my small (non-towered Class E) airport who lost his medical. I don't like the H10-30 as much, it is noticably heavier on your head. I let my passengers use it.

Pretty good deal in my book. :)

Pardon me Otto. I didn't mean to be offensive. I actually believed that you were attempting to be comedic. As in, you were saying not to bother to purchase an expensive headset and not be able to use it because I have not money to "gas" up the plane. I thought you were saying something along those lines and Ithought it was pretty funny...lol.

Secondarily, maybe you should try one of these new headsets (with the technological advances) and maybe you will be "beaucoup" thrilled with the differences and will be willing to invest in one of them. ...or maybe not. Perhaps you experience with the Sigtronics is part of you comfort in the cockpit and we would not want to deviatefrom that.

I'm indeed in this flying business for the long run (GOD willing) and the feedback on the Zulu sounds quite appealing. Light, ANR, confortable, etc, plus others already have it and they love it. I'm about 79% decided upon the zulu.......lol. Thank you all for all of your inputs(Pearl, Toga). Please feel free to add anything if the urge compels you too. Thank you twice.

Wow!
That is a pretty good deal Nose.
I know for a fact that the cost for both is over $500 and you got them both for $150???
You thief!
Good going.
