Default Flight Instructor Written Exam

Getting ready to take my instructor written exam tomorrow, I have gone through the Gleim cover to cover, circled wrong answers and have hit those again. Any suggestions or other study tips? Seems like a lot of info for a 100 question test.

When I took the CFI written and Fundamentals of Instructing, I studied for 4 days the same way you did. Walked out with an 85% on them. Not what I wanted, but it's passing. If you've studied hard for it and are confident, then you should have no problems, however if you're trying to cram on your way to the test site, then think about studying some more and taking them on a later date.

The FOI is a joke... really. 25 questions and it takes seriously 5 minutes The record at our school was 4 minutes and 100% but most can do it in 5 without breaking a sweat.

The FIA is just an overglorified commercial exam, just like the FII is an over glorified IAX.

Remember you just need a 70% but if you really have been studying for your CFI, no reason you shouldnt score higher. Good luck

If i may suggest "SHEPPARD AIR" training aid software. Its like 50 bucks I think, used it for my ATP written, CFI written. Really great software, you choose to only see the right answers and has less questions then the book. I used it both times got above 90. Its good stuff.

Well by now you've taken the test but in the future (or for future students of yours) I suggest mypilottests.com. It has practice tests for all the written exams (and you may want to use the instrument tests for the instrument instructor tests) and you can study all topics in one "real" test or by sections. The site is free and it doesn't take long to set up an account.

I took the CFI written on Sunday. Studied for 5 days and got 90% (I used the Gleim's software).

Default Cfi

I would consider avoiding getting the CFI altogether. Student starts are taking a huge plunge. It will continue to be difficult to get a job as a CFI and to find students. Spend the money elsewhere.

Get a job flying jumpers or towing banners. Buy a 150.

Sort of. The questions on FIA are the same, but harder in that they tend to give you answers which are harder to distinguish...one wrong, one right, and one almost right.

The FII however comes right out of the IAX bank, may as well take both tests back-to-back.
