Mentoring
Just received a call from a guy that was referred to me. He just bought a Citation and needs a single-pilot typed pilot to ride with him for 50-100 hrs for insurance reasons. He has no jet time and just got his type.
Never mentored before. What are the pitfalls, process, etc.

Depends on the insurance requirements and what the guy is all about. If the insurance has no requirement other than that you be there, and this guy just wants to use you for that, you will be getting paid to pick your nose and speak up if your ticket is in jeopardy. Hopefully the guy's fun to hang out with.
If the insurance has "IOE Like" requirements, then you might have to accomplish certain tasks, instrument approaches etc.
If the owner is looking to you to have a plan to actually improve his skills, then revert to CFI-mode and come up with something similar to the CPL dual program (various XC flights, IFR/VFR, whatever maneuvers are safe to do in the actual airplane, short LDGs, etc).
For liability purposes, I would not volunteer to enter dual-given in his logbook if you can avoid it.

Are you a cfi? You don't have to be but if you are you'll probably know how to keep records. I had to do this and I just signed his logbook each flight. I kept a detail of what we did. If he has no jet time he's going to bust the speed restrictions, suck at SIDS and stars, not know how to do a crossing restriction, and be behind in general. Probably. Realize when he busts a FAR or balls one up the Feds will call you which is why I said keep good records. If you can show what you instructed on and you covered whatever he messed up then you're far ahead of the game.
Hopefully your guy has a ton of kingair experience and this is his first jet. Good luck.

Yes I'm a CFI/CFII/MEI
Back when I taught we didn't have CFI insurance and all these lawsuits. I have a couple of thousand hours in type, enjoy the plane and feel I could do a good job working with him. However, I don't want to set myself up for too much liability.
