what i told you wasn't entirely correct.
if you get a U.S. private pilot based on a foreign license, and then get a U.S. commercial, the type ratings will not transfer. the FAA may have done this in the past, but technically it is not correct.
the only certain route would be to go to a part 142 school (flight safety, cae, pan am...) and do a a320 type ride and get the ATP with it. as stated above, your foreign ATP and the ATP written are the pre-requisites for the U.S. ATP.
