Default 1st Class Medical Requirement for Airlines

I just have a quick question:

When an airline states that you need a 1st class medical in order to apply, are they referring to you being able to exercise the privileges of the 1st class, or just have a 1st class medical?

The reason being is that I have a 1st class, but when I start applying this spring I'll only be able to exercise the privileges of a 2nd class.

Read their fine print, but USUALLY they want a current first class, ie within six months. Keep the first class current while job hunting.

I know that here at TSA, FOs have to have a 1st class medical, but we're allowed to let it lapse to 2nd class privileges. I'd suggest having your first class current when you interview, though, so that you have one less thing to worry about if you get offered a class date the week after your interview.

Default Aviation Interviews.

aviationinterviews.com is a good place to find that out, for each particular airline. They'll most likely tell you what you've gotta have before you come in. Pinnacle requires a CURRENT one, and I guess it can't hurt..
