You don't want to move, get settled in with classes and flight training, and then find out that you won't be able to maximize your GI Bill benefits. If anyone can confirm or deny the above info, please do. I don't want to provide erroneous information. Thanks!
You're 100% right. ERAU is a private school, so there is a yearly cap on how much it will cover. However, some schools participate in the Yellow Ribbon program which will cover the cost of training that the G.I Bill won't.

However, this is why I'm mainly looking into Public schools, so I won't have to worry too much about coverage.

If your long term goal is to fly for a living, then your short term goal should be to get your ratings and a 4 year degree spending as little out of pocket money as possible.

It doesn't matter where you get your flight training, you license doesn't say where you got it, doesn't matter. 4 year degree, obviously some schools are better than others.

Ultimately if you can come out the back side having used all the benefits you've earned with ZERO debt, you're ahead of 99% of the pack. Being saddled with student loans trying to break into this business is a hard place to be in dozens of ways.

Do your homework (you've already started) and look at all options for how to get where you want to be. Take everything you hear from schools with a grain of salt and believe about 1% of what they tell you.

Northway Aviation, located on Paine Field in Everett, WA is VA friendly and all of our courses are FAA part 141 approved. The 141 certification is key in using VA benefits, as they will not pay for any part 61 courses.

Northway evens offers CFI jobs to anyone that completes all their ratings there. The planes are all new cessnas with advanced avionics, not 30 and 40 year old airplanes. The maintenance is performed in house every 50 hours. The instructors are fantastic and the atmosphere is very friendly.

Learn to fly with us! • Northway Aviation

Thank you for your service to our country!
