+1 on ATP test prep. Follow their instructions and you do fine. I was really hopeful that I would get my money back (<90%), but alas the prep did its job.

Just used Sheppard Air for my ATP and got a 95.
Took mine a month back. Studied less than two weeks. Took me 27 minutes to take the test and scored a 98. I definitely got my money's worth from Sheppard Air.
I paid for both Sheppard Air and the All ATP one-day crash course (CBT) on site at the test center before taking my ATP written. I bit off on the All ATP one-day course because they had about half the questions to memorize as ShAir--I thought they had more inside knowledge. Plus All ATP is questions/answers only. Well, on the exam there were at least ten questions not on the All ATP review. IMO, stick with Sheppard Air--aside from having nearly every question, they're "system" and gouge will pay huge dividends.

I see they advertise the IGI and CFI-I tests for only $10 more than the IFR (airplane) study program (what I'm working on now). Are IGI/CFII harder/different questions, or can I bang out all three by only studying the IFR test?
I don't know about the IGI but the instrument instructor written is exactly like intstrument written with a few questions geared towards the instructor. Good luck getting signed off for both at the same time though.
Is it worth getting the Regional Airline study guide or is studying the ATP good enough?
Sheppard Air is the way to go. One week of study and I got a 100.
Sheppard Air works great, just realize that you may one day be in an interview and they actually expect you to KNOW this stuff. Make sure to read the explanations and understand the information as to RETAIN it and USE it some day.

Sheppard Air is awesome!!! I used their prep for Commercial, IRA, FOI, IGI, and soon ATP! The IRA was the most difficult but none of them took more than 20-25mins to complete. I think I finished the IGI in 9 minutes! |
Any benifits to using the computer vs an iPad?

Recommend Sheppard Air
Used them for my ATP and the question bank was spot on. I highly recommend their SW if you're considering it, I can't speak to any other ATP prep SW. Good Luck.

Shepard Air has great products. Used them for ATP.
+100 for Sheppard.

I love the software they have! I used it on my Ipad each night and had most of the ATP questions down pat after a few weeks of studying each night.
Did a crash course for 2 days on the computer. I recommend it more for the ease of long-term studying vs holding an iPad.
Everybody I hear talking about an ATP, I immediately chime in with Sheppard as well. I studied straight for a week and aced that thing about a year and a half ago...I would vouch for it being a product worth every penny.
Sheppard Air test prep is definitely worth every penny! I have used them for both the CFI and ATP.

any one had any problem trying to get of hold of them?
I been trying to call, and a busy signal, so I email them. I hope they are not out of business. if you had any similar experience, please let me know. |
yea, my friend got in, they got bum rushed. They also said to make sure you call your testing center and rsv a spot several centers are full already, they claim.
Highly recommend using Sheppard Air. It was hard to get a hold of them last weekend but they called back within 30 minutes of leaving a voicemail. Studied about 20 hours total over 4 days and got an 86%. Lower than I wanted but a pass is a pass.
Heads up that if one gets a busy signal just keep trying and you'll get their answering machine eventually. They're doing sign ups from 0800-2000 CDT this week and they're good about calling back so long as you leave a message during that window.

Note; there will be 10 extra questions (termed "Validation Questions") on the 121 fixed wing ATP test, for a total of 90 questions. You will likely not have seen these extra questions. The extra questions do not affect your score but are included in your time. In other words they have asked you additional questions, though have not allowed additional time. Further the validation questions are not separate from the test, they are interspersed. You might also see a few more questions you have not seen as well. The test prep companies can not realistically keep up with all the changes. Just a heads up so you don't get all wrapped around the axle when you see this. Anyone who has devoted typical study times should pass no problem. Good luck test takers! PS, Make sure you get a seat and there are discounts on the price of the test if you are an AOPA member and other discounts could apply as well, It might be worth inquiring...

I ordered the test prep yesterday after trying to get through to them for several hours and finally leaving a message. They do call you back, but it may be after they close (8pm) before they can do so.
I'm taking it on my iPad after trying it on my MacBook and I think it's much easier to study on the tablet, even though the app could use some aesthetic work. The memory items are a little tough to memorize but it's working so far. I took the Dispatch exam (same test as the ATP) 8 years ago and got a 99 after studying with Gleim, this is significantly easier as long as you follow their study technique. Oh, and if you're thinking of waiting until the last minute, Sheppard Air is not taking any orders after July 27th (I believe that's the date) as per their recording, so if you're thinking about studying with them just go ahead and do it! |

Once you order sheppard air DO NOT i repeat DO NOT update the test questions. Those questions are questions that won't count. Only study what is already in the test bank. You have 1200 questions to memorize as it is so don't bother with questions that won't count. Have fun. My brain was fried from memorizing the answers and not even reading the questions.
They said on after hours message testing centers may be maxed out too. Good luck |
On august 1st you won't get an answering machine. hahahahahaha
I highly recommend Sheppard Air. I used their test prep software recently to get ready for the ATP part 121 written. Worked like a champ- after studying, the test itself was a non-event.
I used Shepard as well and passed my written this morning. I took the 121 and I recommend Shepard. No need to spend extra money on any other test prep.
VERY TRUE! I took mine this morning and passed. I marked the 10 questions along with others I had questions about. After going through the entire test I went back to answer the 10 I had never seen plus the 10 I had questions about. Needless to say I only miss 10 on the test. The 10 questions that were not on the study prep never appeared when the administrator lets you review your missed questions.
Another vote for Sheppard Air. Took it today and got a 94. Two guys were in there taking it long before me and I walked out way before both of them. Even had 10 of those FAA validation questions.
