American Eagle Pipeline Instructor Program

seen on the American Eagle Recruitment Facebook page:

American Eagle Airlines Pilot Recruitment is pleased to announce the Pipeline Instructor Program

American Eagle Airlines has partnered with U.S. Aviation Academy and TransPac Aviation Academy to develop a career path from CFI to Regional Airline Pilot. This exciting new program gives the pilot a secured position at American Eagle Airlines while building time towards the ATP minimum flight experience requirements. Not only does the program provide this streamlined career path..., but instructors are hired and employed by American Eagle while they are still instructing!

What does this mean for the CFI? It means that while flight instructing, you have medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as travel privileges on American Airlines and American Eagle! Once Pipeline Instructors reach the ATP minimums and 50 hours of multi engine experience, they are placed into new hire pilot training at American Eagle in the next new hire class.

Applying is easy, simply complete an application on www.AirlineApps.com, then send an email with your resume to [email protected]. Selected applicants will be flown to American Airlines/American Eagle headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas for the interview. Those selected from the recruitment process will then go to interview at one of the partner schools. Once approved by both American Eagle and the flight school, pilots will be hired by American Eagle and work as an instructor at the flight school until reaching ATP minimums.

Minimum Qualifications:
Commercial Pilot Certification with multi-engine and instrument ratings.
CFI and CFII Instructor Certifications
Current FAA First Class Medical
Minimum Age: 21
FCC License
Valid Passport.

Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the United States and have the ability to travel in and out of the US and to all cities/countries served by American Eagle. Ability to work weekends, nights, shifts, holidays and overnight trips. Must fulfill government-required criminal background checks to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification display areas and secure airport authority and/or U.S. Customs security badges, if applicable. Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English language.

I actually already posted this in the US Aviation Academy thread, but yes, it is a great opportunity.

I have to ask.
What are the contractual obligations? I mean both with the Regional and the Flight school?
I see two scenarios, one is the newly minted CFI who is going to work at the flight school for at least a couple of years building his time up, and the other is the guy with 1,000 plus hours TT and gets hired at the flight school? He's "gone" in a few months if he already has the 50 multi?
Curious, I would think both the school and the regional have some sort of contractual obligation?

I'm sure if you talk to either program they will be able to fill you in with all the specifics.

Definitely do not quote me on this but I believe they look for 1500 hours before American Eagle can start training/using you.

I talked to my father and he said the only restrictions that he knew of were that the instructor must of course pass interviews with both US Aviation and American Eagle. After that they just have to meet ATP requirements.

Instructors could transfer into US Aviation with hours; they do not have to be new instructors as far as he knew. There was also no required amount of time that they must be at US Aviation that he knew of.

However, on a personal note, I would be skeptical of US Aviation's willingness to hire an instructor who was only planning to stay a month or something. You can apply to American Eagle outside of US Aviation. It is just a great perk to have all their benefits while being a CFI.

I did talk to a recruiter recently. I have 1300 hours, and it is senseless for me to make the move towards being a CFI at another flight school. Chances are I am going to reach that magic number in a couple of months. Ah if I only can get close to that 500 hours of cross country time! 275 as of date...Let's see how this ATP rule plays out....

Anyone know if this is a full-fledged airline interview with hr, tech and sim?

Same boat, actually I am at 1485 TT :) but "only" 440 XC time. according to my calculation I will be able to hit the 500 XC mark when I get 1700 TT or even more as I don't have many students and all my flight time comes from 141 check rides....

you are far too close than I am, if I were you I would rent a cheap 150 (with a friend?) and go to town.

I'm not trying to sound cheap but does anyone know if this pipeline comes with the hire bonus as if I was hired off the street to Eagle? I missed the presentation because I was working and that was a question I was wondering.
