Ground reference manuevers in twin engine

Hey everyone, I was just trying to get some insight on what to expect when doing ground refrence manuevers in a twin engine? specifically the Piper Seminole, I'm going to knock out my little time I need to get my MEI this week, and any flaws I may have since its been a while, and while looking in the PTS I seen some ground refrence manuevers. I've never did them in the Seminole, I would imagine that you have to be a bit more observant of everything.

If you already have your CFI, and are adding the MEI, then ground reference maneuvers are not required per the PTS. See the matrix "table" in the CFI PTS, which outlines what tasks (maneuvers) need to be demonstrated.

I did my CFII as my inital. I'll definitely check again, I just remembered seeing that the examiner would pick one of the task.

Which Flight Instructor ratings do you currently hold?

I took my MEI initial last week. I had to do a turn around a point, its not really all that hard, although I had little to no wind the day that I did it.

I just put the airplane into the cruise configuration, trimmed for level flight, and did the maneuver. It's about the only time you'll do a ground ref maneuver in a seminole lol.

@gpdballin, lol yea because I can't think of any other instance where you would do ground refrence manuvers in a seminole, or any twin engine aircraft, I did my first flight towards my MEI Monday, its been over a year since i've flown the Seminole and my steep turns were definitely trash, but thats what pratice is for. @TOGA9, The only CFI rating I got is my CFII for now. Im hoping to knock my MEI and CFI out within the next month so I can go somewhere and start flying. Im ready!!!

Any time you are trying to spot, track, or surveil something on the ground :)

steep terns can be hard from the right seat. I didn't have any problems with them, but i know some who did.

where are you doing your training?

I'm not sure of the answer to this one, so maybe somebody can help.

If you have your CFII, but not your CFI, will getting your MEI automatically give you the CFI?

Nope, checkride for each one..... CFI,CFII, MEI

I finished my MEI checkride last Wednesday!!!!! @ USMCFLYR you are right, I was thinking outside the box with that comment, @ gdpballin they were for the first 2 times, but they got better. I had to remind myself that things are moving faster and to keep my scan moving, and im studying down at Spartan College in Tulsa, Ok @ joepilot, as someone mentioned, nope theres a different checkride for each one. I did it in this order because it saved me a bit of money, i may go somewhere where having my MEI already may be beneficial.

Congratulations seminolepilot.
I see that you are practically local to my area too.
I fly with a guy that did soe training at Spartan EONS ago :). I started my flying out of a small shop on the west side of KTUL and over at KRVS too.

Doing the same thing...however, my CFII certificate has a rotorcraft qual and not an airplane qual.
1) I know I can do the MEI as an add-on rating, but do I have to do all the strange maneuvers since I don't technically have an airplane CFII? I have an ASEL and AMEL commercial ticket.
2) Doesn't this all fall under "basic pilot stuff", as in, fly-the-plane-VFR-in-the-configuration-airspeed-and-altitude-you-intend?
