ALL ATP flight training
#1
Anyone have positive/negative comments about ALL ATPs training? Their prices are affordable and i'm interested in a flight school that offers their graduated jobs while they build time for the regionals.

I did the cfi deal in Jacksonville a while back. I enjoyed it the people are great, the cfi ground school guy there Walt is what you would say aviation guru. This guy knows he stuff better than anyone i have ever met. Weather around that area is a bit sketchy at times, but actual is good experience and great for the logbook. a few cfi's working there might forget about you and forget that they (atp ) quotes the program to be complete in a matter of days, my suggestion is stay on them, them being the individual cfi. Overall good value, good equipment.

I loved the training, especially the Cross Country Phase. You do have to stay on them if you're not doing the 90-day program. That's really what they're geared toward - I did the self-paced Airline Career Pilot Program, but flying more than 10 days a month meant that I wasn't always with the same instructor. Great equipment overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my time their. (And Walt isn't just an aviation guru - he used to be the FAA!)

P3Pilot,
I know a flightoptions captain that went to ALLATPS for their 10 day ATP course (i don't remember the location) but he couldn't stop singing their praises....visit the school if you have the time...can't hurt...

ATP has gone downhill. ATP use to have a very good reputation in the industry. They are now in the mode of just taking your money and can care less if you do well. With the high volume of new students, they can concentrate on taking your money to pay for their 20 1.3 million dollar jets. Sad. I know this from past experience and from comment from the staff.

Well they did what they were paid for in my case, which was the MIFR10 multi/instrument/commercial add-on. There's no question they saved me some time and money and a lot of hassle in that endeavor. If they are not as reliable with longer programs I couldn't speak to it since I never tried one. I am considering their one-week CFI-initial course which is a truncated course designed to consolidate and mobilize what you already have into a checkride-viable package. In any case I would not trust them to do the bulk of the training for a rating or certificate, because I do not think mills are very holistic. Personal relationships with instructors in relaxed environments are more desirable, and schools like these cannot offer such an environment. They are designed to expedite those who basically already know what they are doing into lean mean checkride-taking machines. They do that very well. Generally all the truncated prgrams require you to show up with just about everything already done, like writtens, spin training, checklist memorization, and so on. They add finishing touches, weak-point remediation, and supply the equipment and moral support to what you should already have going for you in the pursuit of a particular rating.
