CFI job as college student?

I'M not, although I have heard of that club and may see about looking into them! I'm actually doing my training in my hometown when I come home on weekends etc. because I know the flight school owner and pilots so I have yet to fly in College Station. It's neat that you are familiar with them!
When you say College Station - I think Texas A&M.
When you say Oklahoma State - I think Stillwater/Cowboys.
So I'm assuming that you are from Texas (maybe College Station or around there) and have gone to school at Oklahoma State (OSU), but you haven't flown up in OK and do your training on the weekends when you visit home in Texas. Am I guessing correctly?
In any case - I'm long removed from OSU and the 'Flying Aggies', so I don't know how things are working at the aviation department now, but I had quite a few instructors who were teaching at the FBOs while being full-time students (there were 3 different FBOs offering instruction at the time. I think there is only one now).

I'm sorry for the confusion. It was someone else who posted in this thread who mentioned they went to OSU, not me. I go to texas A&M and we have a flying club here called the flying aggies (which I'm not a member of). I do most of my training when I go back home but still in Texas. So no I don't go to OSU, just a mix up!
I apologize Clayton.
Go Aggies! Of whichever brand you are

I went to college at Florida State, and worked on my ratings up through my CFI/CFII/MEI which I got just prior to my junior year in college.
A local FBO (no aviation program at FSU and a non-affiliated FBO) hired me as a CFI (my first day as a CFI was 9/11/01... perfect timing, haha). I made myself available 7 days a week, and they also started using me in their part 91 managed charter operation.
I graduated on time 2 years later with 1500 hours, a healthy amount of turbine multi-engine time, and was picked up by a regional shortly thereafter. Definitely the way to go!

And yes, CFI on the side as an independent contractor. You set your schedule and rates.
