Schools near Richmond, Virginia
Some background information about me. I'm a college student (VCU) and software developer. I currently use my job to pay for my tuition costs. VCU does not offer flight lessons.
I am interested in flying planes for fun. I don't, at this time, want a career as a pilot. However, I would be interested in getting a commercial license to fly for free (if I could get some weekend pilot jobs).
Does anybody have suggestions for a flight school near Richmond, Virginia?

You have two main choices around Richmond. Either Hanover (KOFP) which is about 20 minutes north of VCU, or New Kent, which is about 30 minutes east. Hanover has a couple of Tecnams, a Warrior, and a Cessna 172, and they go for $124-$145 per hour. Check out flyhova.com for more information.
New Kent has a Cessna 152 ($89), a 172 ($129), a 172RG ($159), and a 1946 Aeronca Champ ($89)...which I think is pretty cool. They just brought the Champ on and after speaking with them the other day will hopefully be giving instruction in it by the end of the month. I haven't done any tailwheel flying but would love to learn and get my endorsement, as I hear it's a blast and will make you a better pilot. There's also a glider club at Merlin Aerodrome that I've been to that is neat as well. Hope this helps.
